China Water: June 6, 2008: "Green" hotel opens in Shanghai.

Although I saw no need to include the full story, instead including just a link, this seemed worth sharing. I find it fascinating that in China, an extremely polluted nation, one can get an impression that "green" and unpolluted environments are being marketed as a luxury item. Time will tell if this is, indeed, the case.

Not only do they have a pretty flashy website , but Shanghai’s URBN Hotel is ultra green. Cool! With more than a billion people, a green travel movement in China would be huge for the planet and the travel industry. URBN Hotel’s tagline is, “A boutique in Shanghai embracing China’s past, present and future.” Nice. Their hipness is enhanced by the fact that their 26 designer rooms are in a renovated factory warehouse.
